I don't like the sporty clutch of my Ford Escort Sport. Is there any way to
modify it so that its not so nippy?

sporty clutch? what escort do you have.........the stock units are all the
same for each engine group.

maybe its not sporty but its nippy. I don't like it. when you are stuck in
traffic its really a pain in the ass. It hopps a lot

I think he means he has clutch judder?
Caused by contaminated clutch disk, or spigot bearing buggered...

if the clutch is jumping it sounds like the pressure plate may need
replacing, (the outer plate covering the clutch friction plate)
there is also a chance, if the clutch vibrates, that the flywheel may be
slightly warped,
the spigot bearing sits in the middle of the crankshaft and its operation
doesn't affect the clutch a great deal, it simply acts as a guide for the
gearbox shaft.....you may have been reffering to the clutch release bearing.
